My earliest memories of playing with water sparked a lifelong fascination with science, mechanics, and all things magical. This passion led to the vision of building an interactive machine that celebrated water, sunshine, and human ingenuity—an automaton that would endure beyond the creator's lifetime. The journey of creating The Dancing Fountain began with the spinning turbine in 2005, which produced mesmerizing water patterns. Lighting systems were added to bring magic to the night, followed by control systems for the subtlest control. Surprisingly, music came later in the evolution, revealing its ability to choreograph the fountain's movements.
I dedicated countless hours to crafting a control program, aiming to find the perfect algorithm to elegantly translate music vibes into a water language. This ongoing mission has been the most time-consuming aspect of the project, with thousands of hours spent using my favourite music for inspiration.
Interactivity was a crucial aspect of The Dancing Fountain. Unlike other pre-programmed water-music shows, this creation reacts live and adapts on-the-fly to any piece of music. It is designed to patiently wait for the music to begin, "feeling" the music and performing a unique dance for every piece, providing an immersive and captivating experience for the viewers and without realising that there was a show-man in me all the time.

Ben (DJ Lump) is a resident DJ for The Dancing Fountain and helps run and market the business. From an engineering and musical background, he creates a range of different soundscapes using an eclectic range of music. In doing this, he displays the huge potential of The Fountain and the reactivity of her lighting and movement.
Ben runs events in London called ‘And Now For Something Completely Different’ that pull together many artists from different genres including bands and DJs in order to create nights where the music is constantly changing, and the crowd has no idea what to expect.
Alexis met him at a micro-festival and has now played at many Fountain gigs at a range of different events. Ben also colludes with Joss (DJ Sploj) to create the duo called Dollop which was formed specifically to create eclectic sets to bring out The Dancing Fountain's huge potential.
